Why a gift in your will is so important to us
Gift in Wills enables our charity to go on helping pets who are sick, injured, homeless and unwanted or are handed over due to a change in their owners circumstances meaning that they can no longer care for their pet appropriately.
Charitable legacies are a very good way of supporting your local charity and we certainly appreciate and have come to rely on the very kind and generous legacies that people have left to S.A.R.A. We rely on legacies for a substantial part of our income and funding to help unwanted animals.
Anyone can leave a gift in their will no matter how large or small. Every single donation will help to find new forever homes for our animals.
Gifts in wills pay for more than half of the work we do to rescue, rehabilitate and find animals in our care their forever homes. 100% of your gift will go directly to helping the animals in our care. We believe every unwanted animal deserves a second chance.
We receive no government or lottery funding.

About Your Will
Your will is a chance to take care of everything that is important to you. Making a will is not as complicated as you may think. When making or updating your will, you should always seek legal advice.
There are three steps you will need to take before visiting your solicitor.
· Estimate the value of your estate
· Decide where you would like your money to go.
· Choose your executor(s).
If you have already made a will, you can make changes by adding a codicil to the existing document. If you would like to update your will to leave a gift to S.A.R.A., The Ann Prosser Foundation, please get in touch with your solicitor.
Types of gifts in wills
A Residuary Gift
This is where you set aside a portion of all your remaining estate after funeral expenses, debts and other gifts in the will have been paid. Many people choose to leave this kind of gift because it helps make sure their loved ones are taken care of first.
A Pecuniary Gift
This is a gift of a sum of money and can be any amount you choose. Any gift no matter how small or large can make a real difference.
A Specific Gift
This is a gift of a specific item which could be used to help our rescue animals or sold to raise vital funds.
Gifts in wills to charities are exempt from inheritance tax. If you would be liable to pay inheritance tax on the remainder of your estate, giving a gift to charity could mean that you pay a reduced rate. For all tax advice, we strongly recommend you check this with your solicitor.
