Volunteering

S.A.R.A. has many dedicated and valued volunteers. Without their hard work, passion and commitment we would not be able to carry out the vital work we do. Volunteers help assist us in enriching the day-to-day lives of the animals in our care.

We expect our volunteers to be-

·      Honest and reliable.

·      Patient and compassionate.

·      Committed to our core principles and procedures. These will be explained in an induction.

·      A team player as well as having the ability to work alone.

·      Passionate about animal welfare

·      Complete an induction and must be over 18yrs of age

If this sounds like you, why not consider becoming part of the S.A.R.A. family?

Please contact us via email, we will ask a couple of questions to see what volunteers rolls would be suitable. We look forward to hearing from you. sara.foxrushfarm@gmail.com.

Due to limited resources, we will be unable to reply to unsuccessful applicants.

Please contact us or call 01642 488108 if you have any questions.

Volunteering with Cats

We have 17 cattery pens that are always full with our feline friends. Volunteering with the cats can be very fulfilling for both cat and cat cuddler alike.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in offering companionship and care whilst the cats are waiting to find their forever home.

We have a catio where our cats stretch their legs and explore. Some of the cats that come in to our centre feel frightened and may take a little bit of time to come out of their shells. It is so beneficial for them to have this one-to-one care and it is incredibly rewarding to see them blossom.

Volunteers can be cat cuddlers, help with the cleaning or both.

Volunteering with DOGS

Volunteering with the dogs is very rewarding for both parties!

Exercise and enrichment plays a vital role in reducing the stress of being in a kennel environment.

From free running in the exercise pen to scent work in the sensory garden and rambling through the nearby woodland there are plenty of enriching environments for you and our dogs to enjoy.

We would love our dogs to be able to enjoy more than their standard two walks per day. Our dogs require a minimum of two 40 minute walks per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, depending on the individual needs of the dog.

Volunteers need to be physically able to walk dogs of varying sizes and ages as well as committed to volunteering in all weathers, depending on the individual needs of the dog.

As well as walking and spending times with the dogs, there are other ways to help such as washing the bowls and helping with the laundry.

Volunteer - Charity Shop

The S.A.R.A. shop is on-site at our rescue centre. We need enthusiastic, friendly and approachable volunteers to help with running a successful store.  The shop helps generate vital funds that enable us to continue our important work.

Volunteers will be preparing items for sale by sorting through donations, creating attractive displays, replenishing stock and giving an excellent customer service experience including advising and helping people as they shop.

Our shop volunteers should provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for our customers as this may be their first point of contact for our charity.

Volunteer - maintenance

We are always looking for volunteers for site based tasks such as, gardening and occasionally some DIY.

S.A.R.A. sits on seven acres of land and has various gardens and borders that need tending to throughout the year. The sensory garden, catio and farmhouse garden are in regular use by our animals and need maintaining for their benefit. Are you green fingered and fancy a chance to be creative?

VOLUNTEER - GOVERNANCE

We can plan an empowerment day for your employees which has a positive impact on you, your team and our rescue centre. From ground maintenance to dog walking and cat cuddling, your team can be sure to get a taste of what it’s like to work in an animal rescue centre. Your employees will feel a real sense of achievement.

Being a small animal rescue, we can accept teams no larger than 10 people each day. The volunteers must be enthusiastic and willing to get involved.

We can provide you with social media acknowledgement and any resources required on the day. The team will have an induction on arrival and will work alongside staff and volunteers.
