Sunday 4th November proved to be a celebratory day weather wise, support wise and new project wise.
Under blue skies and sunshine, animal lovers looked on as three lots of red ribbon were cut to open three new ventures.
Four new kennels mean four more dogs will benefit from luxury accommodation at the sanctuary whilst awaiting their forever home. Each kennel has been sponsored by generous donators. Plaques celebrate their generosity.
In addition, main block, housing eight kennels, has been renovated with much improved drainage installed, energy efficient heating and contemporary interiors for the comfort of the ‘residents’. This area will be fondly known as the Ann P block after Ann Prosser, the original founder of the charity.
A new enclosed outdoor adventure playground, referred to as The Catio allows the cats to spend time outdoors, fulfilling their curiosity and natural instincts. Proving to be a big hit, prospective adopters can now view the cat in a more natural environment, seeing their personalities and individual characters emerge in a stimulating setting.
To celebrate the event, JMS Ukuleles provided music and song, our wonderful supporter, Dawn McCormick baked and decorated a truly magnificent and intricately adorned two-tiered cake complete with fairy lights! Certificates were presented to volunteers to show appreciation of their time and commitment to the charity. S.A.R.A. wishes to sincerely thank all parties involved in the projects including builders, contractors, supporters, volunteers staff and friends.
Extra accommodation brings with it an increased work load, thus new volunteers are needed to be part of the S.A.R.A. team.

Roxie came to S.A.R.A. as an 11wk old puppy with a severe skin condition. Roxie was far too small for the kennels and needed very close care with regular baths, drops and vet visits. Roxie spent the next few months with her dedicated team of foster carers who kept up with all of her medical needs. One of our foster carers and their family fell in love with Roxie and decided to adopt her which was fantastic news! Roxies treatment is ongoing to this day.
The Riddler came to S.A.R.A. in 2016. The Riddler has neurological issues and could not cope with life in the cattery. She is now in a lovely foster home where she lives with two other cats 🙂
