Celebration All Round for S.A.R.A.

Smiles form everyone

Shouts of hooray

Riding on the crest of a wave!

Why?

On Wednesday 30th May 2018 “Support Adoption For Pets” presented the charity with a huge cheque of £120,000, Wow!

S.A.R.A had approached Support Adoption For Pets earlier in the year regarding a grant for a specific project. This entailed revamping and renovating our old kennel block that can house 8 dogs.Certainly a mammoth task including new drainage system, crucial structural work as well underfloor heating,energy-efficient headlamps and contemporary interiors that would ensure a much improved accommodation for the canine residents.

Support Adoption For Pets visited the farm to discuss plans and were most impressed with the ethos, ambiance of the place, staff professionalism and dedication along with the facilities already in place. In other words they fell in love with S.A.R.A!

Consequently their Trustees agreed to donate not just a part of the building costs but the entire sum.Representatives of the organisation including a film crew attended the celebration day, filming and interviewing all aspects and supporters of the animal sanctuary.

His Worship the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland and the Mayoress made a surprise visit as well as  Pets @ Home and Sainsburys staff both are avid supporters of S.A.R.A. Sainsburys donated lots of  delicious foods and Renaissance patisserie made a lovely cake for the special occasion.

Food which was plentiful,BBQ buzzed,JMS ukulele band played so all was singing and dancing. When the cheque was physically handed over screams of delight were heard and an outpouring of gratitude and amazement followed.

Work will start this summer with completion in the autumn.Support Adopting for Pets will be kept in the loop with regular photographs and progression reports.

Watch out for the Grand Opening date of both the new kennel build and newly refurbished main block.

Thank you `Support Adoption for Pet’ for this brilliant uplift and to all the supporters of our amazing charity.

Ceasar

This is Ceasar. He is a 1 year old Perro de Presa Canario also known as a Canary Mastiff. Ceasar first came into S.A.R.A after he was found as a stray at only 4 months old. It was clear to see that he hadn’t been socialised as he was scared of other dogs and strangers until he got to know them. After only a month or two a very experienced lady who had owned and worked with big dogs for a long time came forward to offer him a home. We thought it was great for him as she already had another dog and after a couple of meetings they got on fantastic. After only being in a home for 7 months he returned to S.A.R.A as his owner could no long look after him due to her becoming pregnant, she felt that she could no longer manage two large dogs. Unfortunately when Ceasar came back the lady who adopted him had been bitten on the hand after he became scared of her nephew that had come to visit. Ceasar had jumped on the sofa next to his owner for reassurance but his owner tried to pull him off with his collar and he turned his head round and caught her on the hand. The Staff at S.A.R.A were understandably wary at first but soon realised that he was just still a scared puppy as he would growl at anything when he was out on a walk, like a carrier bag stuck in a tree or just something strange in the distance. Over the last couple of months whilst he has been at the centre Ceasar has come on leaps and bounds, his confidence has grown as his training has progressed. We find that he walks very well on a halti and he is regularly walked with dogs of all sizes and breeds. He is a lovely dog who enjoys running around and playing with his toys as well as having a cuddle. He has became a fond favourite with the staff and volunteers. We are looking for a very experienced large dog breed owner who is willing to carry on Ceasar`s training preferably with no children or other pets.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the centre.

Can you offer this amazing dog a forever home where he can reach his full potential?

Banksy is a beautiful 6yr old who came to S.A.R.A. as a stray via Saltburn Vets. Banksy has clearly been a much loved pet as he has, at some point in his life, had his tail amputated leaving him with a little stump. Banksy is a very laid back cat and therefore would want a calm home with older children and no other pets.

Fred is a gorgeous 6yr old who came to S.A.R.A. as a stray. Fred came to us with a few cuts and bruises after being out on the streets for quite some time. Fred has settled straight in with us and seems to be enjoying the comforts of the cattery and he has put street life behind him!!! Fred would need to be homed as an only cat and would need to be able to have access to the outdoors when he is ready.

Storm is a very beautiful 1yr old male cat who came to S.A.R.A. following a change in his owners circumstances. Storm enjoys spending time with our volunteers but on his own terms. Storms absolute favourite pass time is playing with his feather on a stick toy! He loves to stalk and dive on the feather! Storm is looking for an experienced cat owner with no children and no other pets in the home.

Snape and Luna are a lovely pair of male cats who came to S.A.R.A. through no fault of their own. Luna is 2yrs old and Snape is 3yrs old. Snape enjoys spending time wandering around outside on his cat harness while Luna enjoys snoozing on the cat tree. These two cats love snuggling up together and have a very close bond. Snape and Luna have lived as indoor cats but Snape in particular would love to be able to continue his adventures on the harness in a garden.

Skye is a gorgeous 7 month old girl who came to S.A.R.A. as a stray. Skye is a wonderful dog who loves the company of other dogs and people. This little girl would need a home with another dog. Skye would also benefit from training classes. OUT ON TRIAL.

Milly is a beautiful, 5yr old lurcher cross who came to S.A.R.A. through no fault of her own. Millys favourite thing is playing fetch off lead, on the field with her tennis ball or Frisbee and enjoys the company of dogs she has got to know in her time with us. However, we feel Milly would be better suited to a home as an only dog as although she walks well and can be off lead around other dogs that she knows, she has no interest in playing and is very focused on her toys. Milly would be looking for an active home where she can enjoy long walks and get the mental stimulation she requires. Like many lurchers, after a long walk or a good run, Milly will happily have a snooze in her kennel. Milly is a very intelligent and obedient dog and she is brilliant with commands. Milly would be better suited to a home with children 15yrs due to her bouncy and excitable nature.
