Kita was a neglected mum with 5 puppies. Because she had been so badly neglected she was unable to feed the puppies and they had to be hand reared until she was strong enough to be a mum. During this time she formed a strong bond with the centre manager who decided to keep her on foster. She is a fantastic dog who has a lot of medical problems because of her horrible past, but she is now content and very much loved.

Jake is a lurcher, about 10years old, who is long term foster as he has eye problems and it was too stressful at his age to be kept in a kennel. He is a lovely quiet dog who is fantastic with other dogs and spends his days getting plenty of cuddles and snoozing.

Brandy is a 13 year old Lhaso Apso. He came to SARA because both his owners had had a stroke and were afraid they would fall over him.

Bobby is an 8yr old x-breed who was found straying in Redcar. He is a lovely friendly and affectionate boy with humans but unfortunately he doesn’t get on with other dogs.

Maggie is a 7yr old larger than life Neopolitan Mastiff who has come into the centre through no fault of her own. She is an older lady for her breed and likes to spend her days lazing about on her big comfy duvet. Maggie is a lovely dog and would be happy living with a male dog and someone who can give her all the affection and love that she needs. Maggie is on painkillers to help her joints as she has been allowed to get far too overweight before she came to SARA. Don’t let this put you off though as she is a cheeky girl and still acts like a puppy in many respects and loves nothing more than walks and playing with other dogs. We would love to see Maggie in a long term foster home where she can be happy, so if you think you could offer her a forever home then please contact the centre for more information.

Ossie is a 4yr old adorable JRT who came in to SARA as a nervous wreck but has now turned himself around and become one of the most pleasurable residents to look after, and is a firm favourite with staff and volunteers. He has all the attitude that make JRTs one of the nations favourite breeds and he has all the qualities needed to make the most loyal and loving companion. Ossie loves other dogs at the centre and enjoys walks with his doggy pals, he is fantastic both on and off the lead, and loves children. Although Ossie will happily live in a house with men as part of his family he does get very nervous when men that he doesn’t know visit, and this must be a result of his past. Ossie is desperately looking for a quiet home preferably with a family who have experience with the breed, and where he can get all the love and affection he is so desperate for.
