Sunday 4th November proved to be a celebratory day weather wise, support wise and new project wise.

Under blue skies and sunshine, animal lovers looked on as three lots of red ribbon were cut to open three new ventures.

Four new kennels mean four more dogs will benefit from luxury accommodation at the sanctuary whilst awaiting their forever home. Each kennel has been sponsored by generous donators. Plaques celebrate their generosity.

In addition, main block, housing eight kennels, has been renovated with much improved drainage installed, energy efficient heating and contemporary interiors for the comfort of the ‘residents’. This area will be fondly known as the Ann P block after Ann Prosser, the original founder of the charity.

A new enclosed outdoor adventure playground, referred to as The Catio allows the cats to spend time outdoors, fulfilling their curiosity and natural instincts. Proving to be a big hit, prospective adopters can now view the cat in a more natural environment, seeing their personalities and individual characters emerge in a stimulating setting.

To celebrate the event, JMS Ukuleles provided music and song, our wonderful supporter, Dawn McCormick baked and decorated a truly magnificent and intricately adorned two-tiered cake complete with fairy lights! Certificates were presented to volunteers to show appreciation of their time and commitment to the charity. S.A.R.A. wishes to sincerely thank all parties involved in the projects including builders, contractors, supporters, volunteers staff and friends.

Extra accommodation brings with it an increased work load, thus new volunteers are needed to be part of the S.A.R.A. team.

Roxie came to S.A.R.A. as an 11wk old puppy with a severe skin condition. Roxie was far too small for the kennels and needed very close care with regular baths, drops and vet visits. Roxie spent the next few months with her dedicated team of foster carers who kept up with all of her medical needs. One of our foster carers and their family fell in love with Roxie and decided to adopt her which was fantastic news! Roxies treatment is ongoing to this day.

Rags came to S.A.R.A. at the end of 2017. He was in a terrible state. Rags had a whole host of ailments that needed urgent medical care. He had a chronic skin condition and a chronic ear infection with green puss oozing out of his ears. His skin was red raw with little fur. Rags is one of the worst cases we have seen here at S.A.R.A. Now, Rags is in a foster home with one of our volunteers who has dedicated so much time to his medical needs. Including, endless visits to the vets, baths, ointments, drops and most importantly, TLC! Rags has taken everything in his stride and does not have a bad bone in his body 🙂

Maisie is a fairly small, delightful, 6 year old Staffy X. She adores people, is good with children, loves to play with a ball, enjoys her walks and laps up as much TLC as she can get.

Maisie would be best suited to a home where she is the only pet.

If you feel you could offer Maisie her forever home or would like more information, contact Carol on 07952181396 or E mail dogs.distress@talktalk.net

Ben

Ben is a beautiful 1yr old who came to S.A.R.A. via a local vets. Ben originally went in to the vets as a stray to be neutered and returned to the area he lived. Everyone at the vets found him to be far too affectionate to be living on the streets so he came to us and is now looking for his forever home 🙂 Ben is extremely affectionate and loves spending time in the cat pen. Ben would be looking for a home where he will get plenty of human interaction and Ben could be homed with other cats 🙂 ADOPTED.

Ginger is a stunning 6yr old who came to S.A.R.A. when his owner sadly passed away. Ginger loves to be outside on his harness so he would need a home where he can have access to the outdoors. Ginger is a lovely little boy who could possibly be rehomed with a female cat and children 6yrs+.

Mona is a beautiful 12yr old girl. Mona is a very affectionate lady who likes to have a lot of human attention and will happily come and sit on your knee 🙂 . Her previous owners didn’t feel they could provide her with enough time. We feel Mona would be best suited as an only pet with no young children. Mona is looking for a loving home to spend her golden years. Mona is an indoor cat.

Daisy came to S.A.R.A. through an unfortunate change in his owners circumstances. Daisy is a beautiful cat who is 4yrs old. When Daisy first came to us she was quite shy but has now come out of her shell and is enjoying getting to know all of our cat cuddlers. Daisy would  need to be an only pet and in a home with no young children. Daisy is calm and reserved but very affectionate girly 🙂 OUT ON TRIAL
