Jeff is a very special 1yr old crossbreed who came to S.A.R.A. as a stray. Jeff loves going for walks with his dog friends and he is desperate to play with them, he just isn’t sure how. On arrival, it became clear that Jeff hadn’t experience a great deal. He was very nervous of new things and people. To add to this, Jeff was very underweight, had a swelling from severe trauma to his head and had many scars on his back which the vets suggested were burns. We have spent a lot of time introducing Jeff to different people, gazebos, wheelbarrows, carrier bags and much more! Jeff has now gained plenty of weight and confidence. The swelling on his head has decreased in size but is still visible. Sadly, the vets think the burn scars will stay with Jeff forever. We now feel Jeff is ready to find his new home! Jeff would be looking for a home with no children and with a female dog who can take him under her wing. RESERVED.
Stripes is a 1yr old crossbreed who came to S.A.R.A. at the end of February. When Stripes came to us, it was clear he had had little training and he was a very boisterous young man. We set about with general training and trying to socialise Stripes with other dogs. We have seen progress with Stripes and he has great potential. Stripes’ training will need to be continued in a home with people who are experienced dog owners. Stripes walks well on lead and enjoys jumping in the paddling pool in the pen! Stripes would be looking for as an only pet and with no children, with an experienced owner who will be able to help Stripes reach his full potential.
This is Ceasar. He is a 1 year old Perro de Presa Canario also known as a Canary Mastiff. Ceasar first came into S.A.R.A after he was found as a stray at only 4 months old. It was clear to see that he hadn’t been socialised as he was scared of other dogs and strangers until he got to know them. After only a month or two a very experienced lady who had owned and worked with big dogs for a long time came forward to offer him a home. We thought it was great for him as she already had another dog and after a couple of meetings they got on fantastic. After only being in a home for 7 months he returned to S.A.R.A as his owner could no long look after him due to her becoming pregnant, she felt that she could no longer manage two large dogs. Unfortunately when Ceasar came back the lady who adopted him had been bitten on the hand after he became scared of her nephew that had come to visit. Ceasar had jumped on the sofa next to his owner for reassurance but his owner tried to pull him off with his collar and he turned his head round and caught her on the hand. The Staff at S.A.R.A were understandably wary at first but soon realised that he was just still a scared puppy as he would growl at anything when he was out on a walk, like a carrier bag stuck in a tree or just something strange in the distance. Over the last couple of months whilst he has been at the centre Ceasar has come on leaps and bounds, his confidence has grown as his training has progressed. We find that he walks very well on a halti and he is regularly walked with dogs of all sizes and breeds. He is a lovely dog who enjoys running around and playing with his toys as well as having a cuddle. He has became a fond favourite with the staff and volunteers. We are looking for a very experienced large dog breed owner who is willing to carry on Ceasar`s training preferably with no children or other pets.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the centre.
Can you offer this amazing dog a forever home where he can reach his full potential?
Milly is a beautiful, 5yr old lurcher cross who came to S.A.R.A. through no fault of her own. Millys favourite thing is playing fetch off lead, on the field with her tennis ball or Frisbee and enjoys the company of dogs she has got to know in her time with us. However, we feel Milly would be better suited to a home as an only dog as although she walks well and can be off lead around other dogs that she knows, she has no interest in playing and is very focused on her toys. Milly would be looking for an active home where she can enjoy long walks and get the mental stimulation she requires. Like many lurchers, after a long walk or a good run, Milly will happily have a snooze in her kennel. Milly is a very intelligent and obedient dog and she is brilliant with commands. Milly would be better suited to a home with children 15yrs due to her bouncy and excitable nature.
Marley is a gorgeous, 4yr old Shar Pei who came to S.A.R.A. following a change in his owners circumstances. Marley enjoys playing in our doggy sensory garden and will come over for cuddles when he finished exploring. Marley enjoys his walks and will walk nicely alongside our females. That said, we feel Marley would be better homed as an only pet. Ideally, Marley would be looking for a home with an experienced Shar Pei owner or an owner who knows the breed. For more information on Marley or any of our animals, give us a ring on 01642 488108 and ask to speak with a staff member 🙂 OUT ON TRIAL
Jimmy is a gorgeous 8 month old Saluki cross who came to S.A.R.A. following a change in his owners circumstances. Jimmy is a very active young man. He loves to race around in the pen and enjoys his walks with our other dogs. Jimmy knows basic commands and will play fetch with our staff and volunteers. We feel Jimmy would be best homed with another dog as he loves to play. Jimmy could possibly live with older children and would need a home with no small animals.
Max is a 6 year old staffy cross who came to S.A.R.A. following a change in his owners circumstances. Max is a very playful and LOVES his tennis ball! Max walks well alongside other dogs but we feel he would prefer a home as an only dog. Max is very strong on lead so would benefit from a continuation of his training. Since coming to S.A.R.A., Max has already made great improvement.
Buddy is a 7 year old American bulldog cross who came in to our care in early 2017 following a change in his owners circumstances. Buddy is a very intelligent dog who thrives when following commands for treats. Buddy enjoys playing in the pen and going for long walks with our volunteers. This poor boy is very stressed in kennels and doesn’t show himself well. We feel this is why this beautiful boy has been with us for so long. Buddy is looking for an active home with plenty of mental stimulation. He would need to be an only pet and in a home with no children.
